The interesting thing about this is that The Passion of the Christ was released almost 8 months before James Wan's Saw (there was that Saw short film in 2003, but that felt more like a thriller). So horror films strangely owe a lot to TPotC.

JB It's interesting that you say that. Watching Last Temptation and The Passion on successive nights recently, I identified perplexing and praiseworthy elements in each film (which isn't to imply they are distributed evenly), but I came away feeling that Scorsese's picture is by far the more challenging and complex.
